Dental Implants

A missing tooth can make it a challenge for you to chew or even alter the way you talk. It can also hinder your jaw health and make you feel insecure. Fortunately, dental implants at our office can resolve these issues. With dental implants, you can eat comfortably, improve your speech, protect your jaw and teeth, and most importantly, feel good about your smile.

Dental Implants

What are Dental Implants?

Comprised of a surgical grade titanium, dental implants are inserted underneath your gum line and fused into your bone. While we typically administer a local anesthetic to numb your jawbone and gums for this procedure, a sedative medication like nitrous oxide is an option if you’re particularly nervous.

Once you’re numb, Dr. Williamson will carefully insert a tiny implant into your jaw. He will then place a temporary crown. In a few weeks, you’ll return to our office to complete the procedure.

When you return, Dr. Williamson will place an extension on it so that a permanent crown can be placed. You can expect the crown to be customized to match your surrounding teeth and blend in seamlessly with them.

How to Care for Dental Implants

You’ll care for your dental implants the same way you care for your natural teeth. Dr. Williamson will suggest that you brush and floss them daily and visit our office for professional exams and cleanings every six months or so. No special tools or cleansers will be required.

Also, he’ll encourage you to refrain from chewing on objects, smoking, and engaging in other habits that can damage your implants. As long as you take care of your implants, you can expect them to last for decades.
